Terra Wellington is an American actress, TV personality, author, and environmental activist.
Wellington grew up in both the Western U.S., mainly in Utah and Colorado, and in the Chicago metropolitan area. She was born in a middle-class family; her mother was a freelance artist and author, but mostly a homemaker, while Wellington's father was a salesman who also acted in community theater. Wellington was particularly skilled in prose interpretation on her school's speech team. She attended Adlai E. Stevenson High School, located in Lincolnshire, Illinois, a northern Chicago suburb. In 2003, Wellington started appearing on the Good Morning Arizona program of KTVK, an independent TV station in Phoenix, Arizona. Simultaneously, she started appearing on the Sonoran Living program of Phoenix-based ABC affiliate KNXV-TV. In both programs, she was a media personality talking about wellness lifestyle topics. Her forte eventually expanded to include dozens of other shows located across the U.S.
Wellington was the Wellness Editor for two national women's magazines from 2004 to 2005. She is also the former syndicated columnist for Terra Wellington's Balanced Living and is the author of dozens of articles on wellness and environmental topics, which have appeared in many publications. In addition, she authored The Mom's Guide to Growing Your Family Green: Saving the Earth Begins at Home, which was published by St. Martin's Press in March 2009. Additionally, she studied classical acting and spent time at The Second City in Los Angeles, California. Wellington guest-starred on the CBS-produced police procedural series Criminal Minds and starred in the New York Television Festival's special selection pilot Rx. She then played a supporting role in The Last Days of Toussaint L'Ouverture, an award-winning short film dedicated to the victims of the 2010 Haiti earthquake. In her personal life, Wellington campaigned for the international charity Oxfam and voiced her support for homeopathy, ocean conservation, and the Monterey Bay Aquarium's Seafood Watch program.
