It isn't JUST IMPLIED that she smoked as a teen. She directly states it. In 3rd Life, two teenage girls are leaning against a wall, talking and smoking cigarettes. Hotch wonders aloud whether their parents know they smoke, and Prentiss replies, "Mine didn't."

All I know for sure is that 618 (directed by MGG) will be her last ep for now. Brewster was given the opportunity to keep her contract with an option to make a pilot for another series (the result of this summer negotiation) or to rework it so she could be a regular until the end of the season. She chose the former.

This news means that the chances that she will return to Criminal Minds have skyrocketed. As it has already been said, she has an standing offer by CBS to come back that expires on May 28, but of course she can make her final decision any time from now to that date.
