Peter Ellis was a British television director.

Biography[]

Ellis was born on January 28, 1948. He began his career directing episodes for various British drama series. In the late 1980s, he moved to Los Angeles, California, where he stayed at for the rest of his life. Working on productions in the U.S., Canada, France, New Zealand, and Spain, Ellis directed multiple episodes for Highlander, Supernatural, Third Watch, Queen of Swords, Diagnosis Murder, Criminal Minds, Falcon Crest, and The Optimist, among several others. He also wrote six episodes for The Optimist.

On April 24, 2006, Ellis died of a heart attack at the age of 58. Consequently, an episode for the second season of Supernatural, which was titled "Everybody Loves a Clown", was dedicated to Ellis's memory.
