Nestor Serrano is an American actor.

Biography

Serrano was born in the Bronx borough of New York City on November 5, 1955. He initially worked as a computer operator for the Bank of New York, although he felt a higher calling. As a result, he began taking classes at Queens College. While on his way to his computer science class, Serrano spotted a long line of students waiting at the drama department. Intrigued and wanting to meet new people, he joined them and auditioned for roles. He subsequently landed a role on the play Does a Tiger Wear a Necktie?. Serrano then decided to pursue acting, graduating from Queens College and attending the Lee Strassberg Institute next.

He got his first acting role on a play, the off-Broadway musical production of Diamonds. Since then, Serrano starred in over thirty off-Broadway productions. His first role on a feature film was on the 1986 comedy The Money Pit. Since then, Serrano has appeared in a number of supporting roles in films such as Lethal Weapon 2, Bad Boys, The Negotiator, Empire, The Insider, Runaway Jury, and The Day After Tomorrow. He also made appearances in shows such as Burn Notice, Homeland, Alias, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Law & Order: Trial by Jury, and Criminal Minds, though he is best known for playing Islamic terrorist Navi Araz in 24.
