|“||Look, I only ever ordered that one girl the one time. It was a mistake.||”|
Few details were revealed about Hendrick's past. He claims that he had a mother who worked three jobs to raise him, and a father who left while he was still an infant. Other details are that he was born on May 3, 1960, lived in Maryland, and was put on the sex offender registry after being arrested for stalking a neighbor's kid into the bathroom of an elementary school. He somehow came across a human trafficking ring and became one of its clients. Prior to "The Hunt", he purchased a woman named Eileen Banks, who was abducted in Modesto, California, and stabbed her to death after torturing her. Hendrick then covered her death up as a car accident, for which he was arrested for, but later let go.
Prior to the episode, Kate came across Eileen's case-file while investigating missing persons reports following the closure of a case in California, and she found her circumstances of her death to be questionable. This leads the BAU to the ring in the first place. They go to Hendrick's house while he is in the middle of flirting with a woman on the phone, and he is arrested for Eileen's murder. They manage to convince Hendrick to give up his username and password so they could access the ring's online auctions, after threatening to pin all fifty of the ring's murders on him. He was incarcerated for Eileen's death afterwards.
Since Hendrick was confirmed to have killed only one victim, the term "M.O." may be misused. He purchased his victim on an online auction on the trafficking ring's website, using Tor to avoid being tracked down by the authorities. He then tortured this victim by stabbing her repeatedly for several days. Finally, presumably after he got bored with her, he fatally stabbed her in the chest and neck, and afterwards, he covered up her death as being the result of a car accident.
No profile was made of Hendrick by the BAU, as they were focused on the ring.
- Unspecified dates:
- Unnamed child (stalked only)
- Eileen Banks (purchased from the ring, tortured, and fatally stabbed; her death was ruled as a car accident until May 1, 2015)
