— Fader as Hotch arrests her
On March 24, 2009, Michelle had her three biological children taken away from her custody after another child she was supervising died, and she was charged for neglect. However, she wasn't incarcerated for the charge, and in the years since then, she became a part of the "disrupted adoption" system, where she took in children that were being given away quickly by overwhelmed adoptive parents. Sometime during that period, Michelle received a live-in partner-in-crime named Michael Feehan and also became acquainted with Nicole Jones. Sometime prior to "Gabby", Michelle and Michael were evicted from their last known address and took to the road in a van with two children currently under their care.
In the episode, they take a girl named Gabby Hoffer from the care of Nicole when she begins to panic as a result of investigators searching for Gabby; Michelle had previously tried to take Gabby from Sue Walsh's hands. After Nicole is arrested by the BAU, the team then deduces that Michelle has Gabby and storm into a home they are frequenting, arresting her and Michael while she rants that she was just "trying to help the girl", while Gabby and the other children are rescued.
