I know Aaron's worried. Tell him I'll protect them like they're my own.
Kassmeyer in "Nameless, Faceless"

Sam Kassmeyer was a U.S. Marshal who appeared in Season Five of Criminal Minds.

Background[]

Not much information is specified about Kassmeyer's early life, other than he was somehow acquainted with Hotch and had become a U.S. Marshal.

Season Five[]

Nameless, Faceless[]

Kassmeyer is assigned to protect Hotch's wife Haley and their son Jack, putting them into protective custody after a serial killer named George Foyet attacks Hotch and makes his intention to kill Haley and Jack known. He reassures the BAU that Haley and Jack will be safe under his watch before leaving with them.

Reckoner[]

Kassmeyer reappears showing Hotch a video of Jack on a swing. He tells him that he will continue to keep Haley and Jack safe while the BAU continues to track down Foyet.

In his final appearance, Foyet tracks down Kassmeyer and ambushes him at his home. Foyet shot Kassmeyer in both his legs and once in the foot with an M1911, then severs several of his fingers with a knife and beats him severely in an attempt to get Haley and Jack's location. Kassmeyer refused to reveal any further information despite the torture. In response, Foyet took Kassmeyer's phone and went through its contact list until finally managing to contact Haley and trick her into agreeing to meet him at a place of his choosing. After beating Kassmeyer further, Foyet then leaves.

The BAU would later arrive at Kassmeyer's home and had paramedics retrieve him. En route to the hospital, Kassmeyer tells Hotch that he did not reveal anything about Haley and Jack's location, but then recollects that Foyet took his phone and used it to lure Haley and Jack into a trap. Kassmeyer apologizes to Hotch before succumbing to his injuries on the ambulance.
