Martin Kove is an American actor known for his roles on Rambo: First Blood Part II, Cagney & Lacey, and the Karate Kid film series.

Biography[]

Kove was born in the Brooklyn borough of New York City, New York, on March 6, 1946. He was raised in a Jewish household as a child. He started his acting career with several minor roles. Kove then made an appearance as George Baker in the short-lived CBS series Code R. He also appeared in the short-lived sci-fi series Hard Time on Planet Earth and made guest-star appearances on several TV programs, including Gunsmoke, Three for the Road, Kojak, Quincy M.E., The Incredible Hulk, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, The Streets of San Francisco, and Black Scorpion. Kove later became more well-known after becoming a series regular on the CBS-produced TV series Cagney & Lacey, his character being Detective Victor Isbecki. The series ran between 1982 and 1988.

He then appeared in the 1984 hit film The Karate Kid, starring as Cobra Kai sensei John Kreese. After an appearance in the 1985 film Rambo: First Blood Part II, he reprised his role as Kreese in the 1986 film The Karate Kid, Part II and its 1989 sequel The Karate Kid, Part III. Kove also Kove appeared in Kung Fu: The Legend Continues as the Shadow Assassin, who appeared in two episodes. In 2007, Kove appeared in the No More Kings music video "Sweep The Leg", portraying a parody of his Karate Kid character, and also appeared on Tosh.0 as Kreese. In his personal life, Kove has black belts in Kendo, Okinawa-te, and Tiger Kenpō.
