John J. "Jack" McGee is an Irish-American actor best known for his portrayal of Chief Jerry Reilly on Rescue Me.

Biography[]

McGee was born in New York City, New York, on February 2, 1949. He was the youngest of eight children. For his secondary education, McGee attended Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx, where he was class president and also played on the school football team. He also appeared as a member of the background harmony in The Young Rascals. In 1977, he became a firefighter for the New York City Fire Department in order to start his acting career (his first film was the 1985 firefighter film Turk 182). As a firefighter, McGee served with FDNY Engine Co. 89 and Ladder Co. 50, both stationed in the Bronx. During this time, McGee's first wife was Eileen.

Since then, McGee had acquired credits in over 100 films and TV shows. During his later career, he provided the voice for Mr. White in the 2006 Reservoir Dogs video game. He also voiced Big Ed in the World War II-themed game Real Heroes: Firefighter, as well as the driver and engineer in the movie Backdraft. In his personal life, McGee is a survivor of colon cancer and is currently committed to several cancer organizations, particularly the WeSpark Cancer Support Center, where his second wife Stephanie serves as its Guest Services Manager. McGee also supports Autism Speaks, the American Cancer Society, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the Michael J. Fox Foundation, and the Leary Firefighters Foundation.

McGee portrayed Detective Brustin in the Season Three finale episode "Lo-Fi" and the Season Four premiere episode "Mayhem".
