Elizabeth Prentiss is the mother of SSA Emily Prentiss as revealed in Season Two of Criminal Minds. She is a US Ambassador, formerly posted in the Ukraine.

HistoryEdit

Ambassador Prentiss's job required for her and her family to be post in different countries of the Middle East, Japan, Egypt, Russia, Rome and, undoubtedly, others. Her job had forced her to be the perfect diplomat and a good politician; seemingly she displayed those traits during her time with her family, leading to a strained relationship with her daughter. A good example of this could be the tale about Emily's apartment during her college years: Elizabeth paid for the apartment as Emily's waitress job couldn't cover the cost but the incident is never acknowledged by either of them. She also is unaware that Emily had an abortion when she was fifteen. When she was sought by a Ukrainian family asking for help when their father was abducted in Honor Among Thieves, she went directly to the BAU with the knowledge that they were the best equipped to solve a situation of that nature, moreso when the abduction was suspected to be the job of Russian mobsters. Once the case was solved, it's implied that both her and Emily are ready to close the bridge that has separated them for decades and start rebuilding their relationship.
