Episode FormatEdit

So I've realized that people aren't so active on this wikia page, but I was thinking that we could improve the individual episode pages by adding more categories to them. I was thinking that we could do this (please let me know if it's too much):

  • Episode #: (name of episode)
  • Summary: (short summary of episode)
  • Location: (location of case)
  • Quote: (first quote of episode)
  • M/O: (mode of operation by which the unsub is using)
  • Victimology: (who is being targeted)
  • Profile: (how did the team profile the unsub)
  • Unsub: (name of unsub)
  • Shot taken: (who made the final move, whether they shot, cuffed, or let the unsub get away)
  • Quote: (final quote)

Transcripts Edit

So, I've been looking around for Criminal Minds transcripts, but they don't seem to exist anywhere. Does anyone know if they do exist at all? If not, I'm thinking of undertaking the ordeal that would be transcribing it all. -- N, March 10, 2014

Criminal Minds Game Edit

Heard about this today. [1] -- Lord Crayak 23:21, November 2, 2009 (UTC)

Sweet! This game will also make an excellent article and give us the opportunity to create a new category, not to mention a new infobox! Can't wait. I hope it's the same style as the CSI games (but with DX10 graphics) ---Sec_1971 TALK (CM Wiki Admin)

TemplatesEdit

I've been thinking of tweaking the templates to make them look a little more exciting. If you think this is a good idea, check some of the other wikis and let me know what style you think looks cool. The copy/paste code will be the same, so none of the pages will have to be changed. On another note, I need to know what fields would be appropriate for a game template. I've come up with the following:

  • image
  • title
  • release date
  • developer
  • publisher
  • genre (fps, point and click, etc.)<----not sure what the field should be called
  • platform (pc, xbox 360, etc.)
  • rating

George Foyet Fan FictionEdit

Check out this website for 35 ways to annoy George Foyet. Kind of amusing. ---Sec_1971 TALK (CM Wiki Admin)

Ed Bernero also got his mind processing analized, or something like that... Amusing and irreverent to a fault: The Gospel According to Ed Bernero
Enjoy! Mvpl 14:18, February 18, 2010 (UTC)

Top Ten Criminals Edit

How about unsubs who are in more than one episode? The Footpath Killer, Karl Arnold, Randall Garner, Tobias Hankel, Frank Breitkopf, Jason Clark Battle, George Foyet and Lucas Turner. That's only eight, but it shouldn't be too hard to pick out two more (who could be replaced if more non one-shot villains appear). -- Lord Crayak 19:32, December 1, 2009 (UTC)

Billy Flynn and The Replicator complete the list :D -- IDon'tHaveANameYet

Hotch vs. FoyetEdit

Here are some good snaps of the final battle, plus a pic of Haley dead. See what you guys can do with them.

---Sec_1971 TALK (CM Wiki Admin)

12/9 EpisodeEdit

I missed most of last night's episode. I did see the scene where Hotch was putting the tie on Jack. Pretty sad. --Sec_1971 TALK (CM Wiki Admin)

New CategoryEdit

I created a new category: Criminal Protagonists. It will cover people such as Arzeny Lysowsky, who are criminals, but are not considered "bad guys" in regards to the case at hand. I will peruse the wiki to find others that fit into this category, and would appreciate some help :) --Sec_1971 TALK (CM Wiki Admin)

Under Animal's name, there's two:  Bobby Q and Playboy.  Although Bobby Q was a victim too.  Under Ian Coakley's, there's one:  Gil Bonner (although he was innocent).  Under Marvin Doyle, there's all of his victims.  Under Charles Holcombe, there's Steven, his accomplice/servant.  Under Johnny McHale, there's the 23rd Street Killers.  Under Eddie Mays, there's a meth addict initially suspected of the crime (definitely a maybe).  Under Tony Mecacci, there's Judge Schuller, Ray Finnegan, and the mobster, Sean.  Under Vincent Perotta, there's MIchael Russo, his "boss".  Under Paul Silvano, there's the group of guys who went to Galicia, Spain and the unnamed men who helped Paul Silvano carry out his "exorcisms".  Under the Wilkinsons, there's their wives who killed them to protect their unborn children.  Under Jackson Cally, there are his five cult members.  Under Benjamin Cyrus, you could include Jesse, his teenage wife (since she blew everyone up) and the guy who he outed to take power.  With Michael Earlson, there were two names mentioned by the team in order for Agent Katie Cole to figure out which one abducted the boy (one of which was Michael) and the principal, Hayden Rawlings.  Under Susan Jacobs, there's Richard (who's a pedophile) and the unknown man who killed a girl a week earlier.  Under Danny Murphy, there's his mom, his dad, and Detective Bill Lancaster who covered up his brother's death by blaming a pedophile.  Under Ryan Phillips, there's his followers Douglas Silverman and Coleman Taylor and Lindsey Vaughan and her father, Jack.  Under Jamal Abaza, there's the members of the Omega Cell.  And, last but not least, (whoo, there's been A LOT) under Chad Brown, there's Dr. Nichols.  Also, I seem to have passed over the guy who wanted revenge on his old company, with the help of some lady that poisoned candy and envelopes.....

Iffy88 23:45, December 14, 2009 (UTC)Iffy88

Excellent work! Feel free to write them if you wish, using the Notable Character Template. Ask Lord Crayak for photos. He has the series on DVD, and can get screencaps. Go with Characters--->Criminal Protagonists for categories. --Sec_1971 TALK (CM Wiki Admin)
Would Richard Slessman and Mason Turner count? -- Lord Crayak 01:11, December 15, 2009 (UTC)
I think they would be more suited to a "Criminal Lackey" role. HEY! Create that category, and I'll support it. I'm in class right now and can't really do much :) --Sec_1971 TALK (CM Wiki Admin)
An "Accomplices" category could work... some of the guys listed by Iffy88 seem to fit that, plus some others (the Canardo's friend Joey from The Perfect Storm, the Fyodor guy from Honor Among Thieves, the dad from Damaged, the manager from The Performer, etc).

Sound good! Just remember, that means more pages, and possibly a new portal! --Sec_1971 TALK (CM Wiki Admin)

Spin-Off Tidbit Edit

Casting call is available, gives some info on the new characters. [2] -- Lord Crayak 19:51, December 18, 2009 (UTC)

That page appears to have been deleted. That sucks. We could've gotten started on some new char pages. --Sec_1971 TALK (CM Wiki Admin)
Eh? Still works for me. Here's the info:

Looks like the Criminal Minds Spin-off is going ahead with at least a pilot. It currently does not have an official name.

  • Exec. Producer: Mark Gordon
  • Exec. Producer: Deborah Spera
  • Writer/Exec. Producer: Chris Mundy
  • Director: Richard Shepard
  • Shoot Dates: Feb. 16th - Mar. 5th

[COOPER] 45-50.. all ethnicities. The team leader, he's fierce in his loyalty and mysterious in his daily life. A former star profiler in the BAU, he's been off the radar for the last eight years - leaving only a trail of rumors and legend in his wake. He runs a team that exists outside of FBI bureaucracy and is intensely loyal to him.

[GINA] 28-32, all ethnicities. She's strong, intelligent. Raised in a tough neighborhood in Baltimore, she managed to avoid the streets. Got straight-A's. Was the first person in her family to ever go to college. Recruited from school to the FBI, she finished at the top of her class at Quantico but was destined to work deep cover in the same streets she'd managed to escape. Her father died before he could learn that she hadn't wasted her life. After she quit the FBI, Cooper talked her back by inviting her onto his team.

[MICK] 30, all ethnicities. Formerly of the British Special Forces, though he was discharged for reasons that remain classified. Expert sniper. Survivalist. He was educated at Cambridge but his demeanor is more charmingly rakish than posh. He's as adept verbally as he is physically and he knows it sptv050769. Part puppy, part guard dog.

[PROPHET] 30s, African American. A former gang-banger from L.A. He did seven years in prison for drug trafficking but found Jesus in jail. He's street-smart, connected but also incredibly dexterous at quoting scripture. He feels this unit is his chance at redemption - a way to direct his street skills toward a noble end.

-- Lord Crayak 03:47, December 19, 2009 (UTC)

Sounds like it'll be awhile. The Mick character sounds interesting. -Sec_1971 23:15, December 18, 2009 (UTC)

Spin Off CategoriesEdit

Does anyone have any ideas on how the characters, criminals, etc. should be categorized once the new show comes out. Should we create a whole new category tree? For example: XX Characters--> XX Main Characters--> XX Criminals--> etc. I'd like to keep separate portals for the characters of each show, but I think the categories for serial killers, etc. that already exist for CM can also be used to categorize the new show's unsub. We could create a whole new XX Characters category and a XX main character and XX minor character and keep the same criminal categories for the unsubs. Have I confused anyone yet? I think I just confused my self. It will be a lot easier once we know what the show would be called. Maybe it be something like: Criminal Minds: Seattle or Criminal Minds: Los Angeles or maybe the show won't even have the Criminal Minds title in it. I'm rambling. If you have any ideas, let me know. I have a headache now, I'm going to take a nap :) --Sec_1971 TALK (CM Wiki Admin)

With a headache, a nap is a very good idea :). I don't know about the title, methinks it's still a work in progress, but based on what I've read it's going to be a different group of people out of the FBI bounds, so their working methods probably are going to be different too and what are they working about it's possible that have very little to do with the cases from the mothership. On top of all that, I read they have every intention to present them in a CM episode, something like the 19-20, so then we'll get the chance to take a peak at what they are going to be like, and the producers will get their chance to evaluate if they are well enough liked to make a show by themselves. And as I'm starting to ramble too, see you later. Mvpl 15:36, December 30, 2009 (UTC)

Roy WoodridgeEdit

Mvpl has made a good point about Roy Woodridge. Though the BAU officially classifies him as a serial killer, his short cooling-off periods make it more likely that he is instead a spree killer of sorts. Think of Darrin Call and his one-victim killing sprees. What does everyone else think? --Sec_1971 TALK (CM Wiki Admin)

Well, his cooling off period was really just him hiding from what he percieved were enemy forces while awaiting rescue, and he really didn't have a psychological compulsion to kill, since he only did so when he felt he was in danger. Plus, it seemed he could've gone into a frenzy at any point, which was the major concern when they were preparing to make the arrest. -- Lord Crayak 01:51, December 31, 2009 (UTC)

Mason Turner Edit

Why is he in the Minor Characters list insted of the Serial Killers one??? He couldn't use a weapon directly, so he used his brother insted, that doesn't make him any less guilty, he's the instigator, the mastermind and the controller, the idea to begin with and thirst of knoweledge were his. They thought he was going to walk free because they were going to have problems probing it after Lucas death, but they were sure he was the guilty party in the whole sordid affair. Mvpl 17:01, January 2, 2010 (UTC)

The same could be said of Boyd Schuller. Wierdperson31 00:02, March 7, 2010 (UTC)

Another Spin Off Tidbit Edit

The upcoming Criminal Minds spin-off, set to begin production in February, has found itself a director, and no other than the same guy who helmed the original Criminal Minds pilot that aired some four years ago.

Richard Shepard, who directed "Extreme Aggressor" on CBS' Criminal Minds, has signed on to handle the show's spin-off as well, or at least the pilot episode, Variety reports.

"The idea of coming back and doing this spinoff was exciting," Shepard said. "I was proud of that show, and I haven't directed a procedural since Criminal Minds. They came to me with this great opportunity."

Just like NCIS: Los Angeles, the spin-off pilot will also double as an episode from the mothership. Called a backdoor pilot, the branch-out will center on another group of FBI profiles.

"I'm not ready yet to commit to doing a TV show for five years," he said. "This gives me the freedom to look at projects already in the system and come on with a fresh pair of eyes. So far that's worked out for me... I love doing pilots; they're like mini-movies. You get to help cast a show and set a look to it."

So far, four characters need to be cast for the Criminal Minds spin-off - Cooper, the team leader; Gina, an undercover agent; Mick, a firearms specialist; and Prophet, a born-again ex-con.

From TV Guide:
Got any new dirt on the Criminal Minds spin-off? — Cal
ADAM: Sam Cooper, the leader of the new team, comes with baggage: A young boy died on his watch because he didn't follow his gut. In the crossover episode, I hear that Hotch & Co. bend the rules to help Cooper redeem himself.
Mvpl 21:41, January 20, 2010 (UTC)
As soon as anyone learns the title of the spinoff, let us all know. Then we (I) can begin work on the new templates. --Sec_1971 TALK (CM Wiki Admin)

Spin-off - Forest Whitaker to Star?Edit

Oscar winner Forest Whitaker is in final negotiations to star on CBS' potential "Criminal Minds" spinoff.

The project, which revolves around a new group of profilers who work outside the FBI bureaucracy, will be introduced on an episode of "Criminal Minds" in the spring.

Whitaker will play Cooper, the squad leader. Described as dynamic, mysterious, charming and a father figure to the rest of the team, he is a former star profiler in the Behavioral Unit who has been off the radar for the past eight years.

"Minds" executive producer Chris Mundy wrote the planted spinoff, from a story by him and "Minds" executive producer/showrunner Ed Bernero. Richard Shepard is directing.

Like the original series, the potential spinoff is being produced by ABC Studios, the Mark Gordon Co. and CBS Studios.

Producers of the new show zeroed in on Whitaker early and finally moved close to locking him in Monday night after lengthy on- and off- negotiations.

As part of the deal, Whitaker is expected to get a producing credit.

On TV, the WME-repped Whitaker, who won an Oscar in 2007 for "The Last King of Scotland," most recently had arcs on FX's "The Shield" and NBC's "ER."

Delay in Episodes Edit

Heard the next episode (which I think is the one Matthew Gray Gubler is directing) is being delayed (due to the 2010 Winter Olympics, or something) until March 3rd. -- Lord Crayak 03:18, February 11, 2010 (UTC)

The date is correct, as per his own twitter: "the episode i directed is called "Mosley Lane" it airs march 3rd and stars: Bud Cort, Beth Grant, Annie Cusack, Brook Smith, Toby Huss and
...3 of the most talented, as of yet unknown, child actors in the world
yeah... i don't joke around when it comes to casting. only the best in the world will do. wait till you see the kids... breathtaking."
If you read all the entries with references to this episode he sounds more hyper than usual :) Mvpl 13:06, February 11, 2010 (UTC)
Toby Huss? Doesn't he do the voice of Cotton Hill? --Sec_1971 TALK (CM Wiki Admin)
By name, I cannot place any of them. But you where asking about the crossover epi... they said they'll start shooting on February, 17. From the casting call, I know the 17th epi is going to be named "A solitary man", and it was a different casting call than that for the crossover Mvpl 17:02, February 11, 2010 (UTC)

CameosEdit

Just for fun, everyone list an actor or actors you would like to see play criminals on the show.

  • John Lithgow --Sec_1971 TALK (CM Wiki Admin)
  • Nick Stahl --Sec_1971 TALK (CM Wiki Admin)
  • Gary Dourdan (every good character in another show must be counteracted in this show) - Mvpl 22:36, February 16, 2010 (UTC)
  • Carry Elwes( Kiss the Girls, Saw I) - but then it would also be fun to have Morgan Freeman in the same episode! Maybe a reversal of roles... consulting the retired expert? This is a great idea since the show has tipped its hat to this movie in a number of episodes. - toonew2two
  • Jenna Elfman - played Darhma from Darhma and Greg in which Thomas Gibson was Greg. It would be fun to bring back any of the actors that the CM stars have already acted with in other productions. Which then of course is another nod to Carry Elwes... but how could Gideon come back? Have Elwes' character ask after him? - toonew2two
  • Some of the tween/teen show actors might be fun... Selena Gomez, Jason Dolley - toonew2two

Guest ActorsEdit

While putting together the information of some of the guest actors I've come to discover them as people and as professionals, and some of them are downright fascinating, and very few know that because to get the data has been a chore as there it's not a single place where you can get everything for most of them. This could be the fist website with a "complete" page dedicated to them and if so, would it be alright to list the guest actors in the episodes pages? I was thinking below the quotes Lord Crayak has been collecting, and just the actor names (because adding the character they play could negate the "no spoilers" rule for those pages). This way it would be easy for eveybody to locate the pages, even for those less "wiki practiced" - Mvpl 17:10, March 2, 2010 (UTC)

Related pages??Edit

I've been checking their appearance in several pages and neither I'm a happy camper with them. For anybody well versed on CM are prone to make them think we don't know what we are writing about and anybody not very familiar with the show is going to get confused. And they are too big on top of all that - Mvpl 17:08, March 9, 2010 (UTC)

How is that a spin-off?

Joekido 07:49, March 11, 2010 (UTC)

Backdoor pilot, essentially. -- Lord Crayak 12:18, March 11, 2010 (UTC)

So were going to have a spin-off taking place in California? I see

I wonder how that'll work once the spin-off arrives

Joekido 12:29, March 11, 2010 (UTC)

Looks good. Once we know the official title, we can get started. We'll use the character portals for both shows, just separating the two shows instead of creating portals for both...unless everybody thinks new portals would be better. The shows' characters will be categorized separately, of course. --Sec_1971 TALK (CM Wiki Admin)

From a little article on the NY Post about the spin-off: As "Minds" executive producer Chris Mundy explains, agent Sam Cooper (Whitaker) will be a long-time BAU agent, who left the FBI for a mysterious eight-year period, but returned 10 months ago.
"His caveat is that he wants to be able to handpick any team he wants and to operate as far out of the bureaucracy as possible," Mundy says, which gives them "a slightly different style than the original."
The new BAU team will include an agent straight out of the FBI academy (Beau Garrett), an ex-British Special Forces soldier (Matt Ryan) and an "FBI agent pending" who’s done six years in jail (Michael Kelly).
They’ll leave the serial killers to the original "Minds" crew, focusing instead on cases like human trafficking and assassination plots.
I don't know what to think anymore :) - Mvpl 14:45, March 26, 2010 (UTC)
Sounds interesting, at least. Good to hear it'll be dealing with different types of crimes, instead of basically the same kinds as the regular BAU. -- Lord Crayak 18:42, March 26, 2010 (UTC)

From Talk PageEdit

So, I was thinking while watching last weeks episode about the spin-off. Firstly I think JJ may be apart of it. I don't want to lose her on CM but it seems as though she is losing the stomach and the will to continue with the team. It effects her so much more now. Also I think that the spin off will be about highway serial killers, I know I am not the only person who picked up on that hint. Either it will be another story line or it will be another show. It seems weird that they would introduce an entirely new data base used to track SC's and then just leave it at one episode... Does anyone else think JJ seems incredibly uncomfortable?

First, Ed Bernero has stated that it's going to be a differente show, with a different cast altogether, so JJ remains where she is. Next episode is the backdoor, a means to introduce them to the CM viewers, just that. And second, please, sign your posts; it's a bothersome not to know who you are talking with - Mvpl 20:42, March 13, 2010 (UTC)
Thirdly, this is a talk page itself and doesn't need a talk page of its own. Place any discussions on this page. And yes, sign your posts after creating a user account. --Sec_1971 TALK (CM Wiki Admin)

AudioEdit

I've stumbled upon a blog with plenty of people talking shop about CM and something has caught my attention. There were complaints about one scene in Cradle to Grave: when Hotch and Strauss are talking in his office, once the POV changes to JJ is next to impossible to hear their voices, so it's impossible to understand what they are saying. I've checked my copy of the episode and neither can I... with the original audio; the spanish audio is crystal clear. Anyone interested in knowing what they are saying? If so, maybe there are more scenes with the same problem in other episodes you may want for me to check? -Mvpl 23:24, March 18, 2010 (UTC)

Real Life Criminals PortalEdit

Should we keep the real life portal strictly killers, or add other types of criminals, too. I think it would be better to it just killers. Thoughts???? --Sec_1971 TALK (CM Wiki Admin)

I believe that I'm not going to be a great help to create these pages, I just haven't the info, but if CM doesn't keep sctrictly to killers, why should us? The 'Criminals' in the page title is a dead give away :) - Mvpl 21:52, March 22, 2010 (UTC)
True. I guess the Unabomber would make a good page. --Sec_1971 TALK (CM Wiki Admin)
This is probably a given, but I feel I should ask anyway, for some reason. The wiki is just gonna cover criminals who are actually mentioned in the show, right? -- Lord Crayak 23:19, March 23, 2010 (UTC)
I assumed that's what we were doing :) Have any different ideas? I guess it doesn't necessarily have to be that way. --Sec_1971 TALK (CM Wiki Admin)
Just asking to make sure. -- Lord Crayak 14:28, March 24, 2010 (UTC)

Just my two cent worth - and I am brand new here so between that and inflation it isn't worth much! Cast Changes Edit

Bit of a newsplosion - a veritable ton of sites are reporting AJ Cook is gonna be written off, and Paget Brewster might be demoted from main to recurring, if she isn't removed entirely, come Season Six. -- Lord Crayak 02:05, June 16, 2010 (UTC)

  • First you can sign a petition here: petition online to save cmwomen
  • Second, the CM producers usually read this blog so they have collected the news and opened up an space for fans opinions and it's important that the numbers grow: CM Fanatics

DONE DEAL: AJ Cook will be in just 2 episodes next season to wrap up JJ storyline and Paget Brewster has signed a contract and Emily Prentiss will be in 77% of the next season episodes. I just hope that now they don't bring anybody new to mess things even more... - Mvpl TALK (CM Wiki Admin)

Wasn't aware of the link removal, but I did know about the notable unsubs removal. Someone kept trying to cram in every Villain of the Week, with most of the info being copied and pasted from here. Instead of just reverting the edits, someone decided it was best to just remove the entire section. -- Lord Crayak 19:29, July 20, 2010 (UTC)
I was actually the one who started the Notable Unsubs section on that page. At first, I just included Unsubs who had some major impact on the storyline and ones who appeared in more than one episode, such as Jason Clark Battle, Tobias Hankel, Frank Brietkopf, The Footpath Killer and later George Foyet. -- Jpx400 01:03, July 21, 2010 (UTC)

Edit

After talking at the Wiki page on Facebook that we could do with a new wiki logo, and after being out of useful ideas for months, Sec's picture inspired me {C}to play with the original CM logo. I know which one I like best... and you??? - Mvpl TALK (CM Wiki Admin)

WIKI-LOGO-1 {C}WIKI-LOGO-2 {C}WIKI-LOGO-3

{C}Oooh! I like the one on the right. The left one is kinda freaky. :) --Sec_1971 TALK (CM Wiki Admin)

Any way you can soften the edges on the fonts? Otherwise, it's great. --Sec_1971 TALK (CM Wiki Admin)

I know it's freaky, but I've found it funny too and wanted to share ;). My option is the second one too. About the edges, let me experiment a little bit more, maybe eliminating the double edge will do the trick (I'm trying a new program) :)- Mvpl TALK (CM Wiki Admin)
I've uploaded a new version without the black edge. Not much more I can do, as is a too small file and to take away the whole filter would steal part of its charm :D - Mvpl TALK (CM Wiki Admin)

The words underneath Criminal Minds are kind of hard to read. What software are you using? If you send it to me, maybe I can clean it up. I have photoshop, so if you have the .psd or .pdd file you can eMail it to me. I want to use it, but we need to make it easier to read. --Sec_1971 TALK (CM Wiki Admin)

I've been using Gimp-2.6, so I'll see if I can save it with one of those extensions. The distortion of those words comes with the filter that gives all of them that "metallic air". I've tried to let them out of it, but they clash too badly; the main problem it's they are too small; a size 9 font, or what's the same, a "i" is just 3px wide (I've made the whole thing from scratch). 219x155px it's a very tiny area to work :( - Mvpl TALK (CM Wiki Admin)

The font isn't available in a larger format? That's Gimp for you :) I don't use it. There isn't a stable 64-bit version available and it really doesn't do everything I need it to. I'm a Photoshop guy. --Sec_1971 TALK (CM Wiki Admin)

Sec, if I use a bigger font size, I'll need a bigger work area. 216x155 sounds a bell? :p
I've tried to compose it using a bigger playground, but the result after reducing the size it's even worse. I'd decided to let it like now is 'cause everybody knows what it says; if somebody comes looking for CM info, I'm pretty sure they have seen the show, and they can find the original fairly easy here... - Mvpl TALK (CM Wiki Admin)
Antialias the font layer for the main logo and just use a different font for "Behavioral analysis unit" and "Quantico". Or you could try not using that filter for the smaller fonts. --Sec_1971 TALK (CM Wiki Admin)
Sorry for the delay, yesterday it was getting too late over here :)
I've uploaded a new version, and I think it's readable now... Thoughts? - Mvpl TALK (CM Wiki Admin)

New Skin problemsEdit

As written by our friends at GTA wiki, who have moved to their own domain:

There are a number of new features with Oasis, but also a number of problems this causes. These include:

  • Wikia will remove our CSS customization options. All we can customize are a pre-determined set of colors and backgrounds. We are unable to have our distinctive banner or similar big logos or customizations.
  • The content area is quite small, and filled with advertisements. The terms of service prevents us from altering this at all.
  • This skin removes Grand Theft Wiki's identity, and just makes us look like part of one central Wikia site
  • This skin and the new terms of service prioritize advertising over content, even more than Monaco
  • The narrow fixed-width layout (630px) breaks many of our pages and puts content last
  • The skin still doesn't work properly, with many features and pages broken. It will destroy many of our pages, and it will take weeks or months to fix them
  • The entire top section of every page is about Wikia and linking to other Wikia sites. The Grand Theft Wiki logo (thus, our logo) and our navigation is placed part-way down the page, making it a lot less obvious
  • The talk page button is now hidden. It's a tiny icon near the search bar, completely separate from the edit button.

Wikia claims that they have consulted the community about these changes. While there has been a beta test running, they have only fixed problems rather than listened to the genuine negative feedback from hundreds of users.

The Grand Theft Wiki staff fundamentally disagree with Wikia's priority of putting advertising and money before content and the community. It is the disregard for our opinion and the disrespect to our community and our content that is driving our upset.

The New SkinEdit

How about the general color? Does everyone want a dark background with light text, or vise-versa? --Sec_1971 TALK (CM Wiki Admin)

Random Image TemplateEdit

Where can we put this? --Sec_1971 TALK (CM Wiki Admin)

Or we change the layout of the second half of the main page (your picture doesn't move), or no idea. Have you seen any wiki with something you like? - Mvpl TALK (CM Wiki Admin)
I was thinking of putting to the right of the big link box. I'm not sure how that would look, but I think the front page would look more advanced if there was more "side to side" action going on with the layout. That would mean chopping the header of the link box by 1/4. The random image box is only 245px, but is about the same length as the link box (with the current text). Not sure. --Sec_1971 TALK (CM Wiki Admin)
I was thinking something similar. Maybe we don't need so many links in the main page... How about we put just links to the portals for everything except the seasons and the main characters?? If I manage not to be interrupted every five minutes, I'll try to put something together in my sandbox for us to play before making any definite change - Mvpl TALK (CM Wiki Admin)

Killers Listed as Victims of Themselves Edit

This has kinda bugged me... but if an unsub commits (or attempts) suicide, should they really be listed under the Known Victims section? -- Lord Crayak 00:06, February 14, 2011 (UTC)

I personally don't think so. --Jpx400 04:48, February 14, 2011 (UTC)

Neither do I, even though is a very tricky question as some go the suicide route to avoid getting caugh while with others is not as clean cut, let's say the Angel Maker ep... Don't know if I've been of any help, but I've the same doubts as you :) - Mvpl TALK (CM Wiki Admin)
Well, I would think that stating that they are deceased in their little info box and stating they committed suicide in their article would work. Otherwise we could just say Deceased (Suicide/Suicide by Cop/Assisted Suicide) in their little info box. Iffy88 01:18, April 17, 2011 (UTC)

Victims by ProxyEdit

I was just wondering who started listing "Victims by Proxy" on certain criminal pages, like Lucy and Ian Doyle, and from where they got that idea. --Jpx400 09:10, May 20, 2011 (UTC)

Excelent question! It was our anonymous contributor, the one that is capable of doing very good things for this wiki but seems unable to open an account so it's possible to communicate with him/her directly!!!
About the "Victims by Proxy" list, I'm feeling ambivalent. In one hand I find it redundant/unnecessary, but on the other I think it serves to differentiate the criminal direct deeds from the ones that the same criminal forces/compels others to do in his/her benefit. I'm being of little help, but maybe others had a more definite opinion...??? - Mvpl TALK (CM Wiki Admin)
I brought up the question because I suspect this anonymous contributor, who appears to have become this wiki's personal "UnSub", got that idea from the CSI Wiki's article about serial killer Nate Haskell, which I have contributed to extensively, including the "Victims by Proxy" list, referring to the people his followers and/or accomplices killed. --Jpx400 11:48, May 20, 2011 (UTC)
You may be right. I only check the CSI wiki from time to time as CSI sans Grissom lost most of its appeal for me, so I hadn't noticed the coincidence.
If you like the idea (it was yours! :p) I'm perfectly OK with it. And I definitely like calling him/her "UnSub"!! :) - Mvpl TALK (CM Wiki Admin)
I made the Victims by Proxy list on Haskell's page because he appears in three consecutive seasons and is directly and indirectly responsible for numerous murders. The list covers people who didn't die by his own hand, but were killed either by his copycats or his other followers on his orders. In the case of Ian Doyle, he may not have killed all the victims of Valhalla and Lauren himself, but he was part of the groups that did and that, in my opinion, makes it more than just "by proxy". Charles Manson didn't actually kill any victims attributed to him personally; his followers did all the dirty work, but he was found guilty of murder by proxy because he was the one who instructed his followers to do so. BTW, the same "wiki UnSub" apparently has also been active on the SB wiki and has written some pretty good articles almost immediately after the episodes were aired. --Jpx400 12:55, May 20, 2011 (UTC)

It's been officially announced that Paget Brewster is coming back to CM as Emily Prentiss!!

At the same time has been announced that the option CBS had over Nichols' contract hasn't been picked so Seaver will left the BAU. - Mvpl TALK (CM Wiki Admin)

Yay for Prentiss! Sad for Seaver, though... -- Lord Crayak 11:01, May 29, 2011 (UTC)

I'm guessing Seaver's storyline will end with her leaving the BAU and becoming a full Agent. I look forward to seeing how the team will handle Prentiss coming back from the dead. -- Jpx400 12:28, May 29, 2011 (UTC)

Not sad to see Seaver gone. Sad for Rachel, she seems a funny, witty and caring woman that got stuck in the middle of a horrible mess without any good way out.
Regarding Prentiss come back from the "death", it can be very insightful into the minds of all the team members that don't know she's really alive, if well done of course.
BTW, Thomas Gibson is still negotiating a new contract. Don't forget that we haven't all our team secured yet! - Mvpl TALK (CM Wiki Admin)

From what I've heard, they didn't even bother to tell Nichols she was being let go, she found out through the internet... ouch. -- Lord Crayak 00:19, June 8, 2011 (UTC)

LOL! They did it ON PURPOSE! This year they've several new interns managing the new Twitter account, the new blog, helping in research,... and a couple of them came up with the song lyrics as a joke. If I understood correctly, when Thomas Gibson read them... Let's just say that it was his idea to make the vid and everybody agreed between laughs! S7 portraits as main character imagesEdit

I thought putting the s7 official portraits as the main images for characters would be a good idea, and I've already gone ahead and done so for all the main cast except Morgan and Reid, who are locked. Does someone who can edit those want to change them too? PhiveDead 18:42, November 30, 2011 (UTC)

Real Criminals SourcesEdit

Came across this page today. It's a collection of summaries of serial killers compiled by the Department of Psychology of Radford University. I've used them as source in some of my articles, might prove useful to others on this wiki. --Jpx400 22:50, February 3, 2012 (UTC)

Ideas for your own Episodes Edit

Thought I'd spark up some kind of conversation here. Some ideas I had (a holiday killer, ones who pieces together a body) have been done, but I had another one about a small town where an unsub assumes the guise of some boogeyman figure, like the Jersey Devil, Bunny Man, or La Llorona. Maybe have some kind of Blair Witch Project-esque opening. -- Lord Crayak 02:24, April 5, 2012 (UTC)

MATTHEW GRAY GUBLER HAS NEW CONTRACTEdit

As happened last year with Thomas, CBS & Matthew have too nearly waited for the last day of vacation to finish the contract negotiations, but finally is done and he's signed for the next 2 seasons!

It's true - Mvpl TALK (CM Wiki Admin) 21:28, April 10, 2013 (UTC)
Not only that, I read somewhere that one of the BAU is going to become a victim in this..... Which is kinda worrying me. Ever since the Replicator was announced, my gut instinct has said thus. I am just praying that the BAU will make it out of the situation unscathed.... There is a time for all things, and the end of a thing is better then the beginning. (talk) 18:58, April 13, 2013 (UTC)
I've heard rumors that Erin Strauss is the unlucky one. In Carbon Copy, she said a statement that involved "Over my dead body", which people have been saying was supposed to be a foreshadowing of sorts. UnSub-Zero (talk) 00:33, April 14, 2013 (UTC)
Heard that Rumour also, but I don't think it is Strauss. My gut isn't saying Strauss, as I think it'd be a cop out really- the CBS writers would be like "Let's kill a character in the show. Oh, let's kill the one everyone hates!" Yeah, not much emotion will come out of that.  Maybe the fact that the Strauss dying rumours exist disprove the theory, as the writers would be trying to quash those, and yet they are still rife. They would want us to suspect the person who ISN'T going to die, and the person they kill of will be the one NO ONE suspects. Though the fact that the episode before the finale is called "The Brothers Hotchner", plus my own gut instinct, makes me suspect that Hotch is going to be the victim. There is a time for all things, and the end of a thing is better then the beginning. (talk) 17:09, April 14, 2013 (UTC)
I suspect one of the regulars is going to leave the show of their own volition, but not Thomas/Hotch... There have been several clues lately that lead to that conclusion, even though NOTHING has leaked/been said. We're doomed to wait until May 22! - Mvpl TALK (CM Wiki Admin) 17:37, April 14, 2013 (UTC)
Unless we can find a really good hacker.... >:) NOT SAYING THAT I CAN HACK. Also not saying to anyone "Do it, hack into their computers" as for one thing, it is illegal. And, they could be doing a JJ, where they write the character/actor out of the show by killing them. We don't know yet, so May 22nd will be in everyone's diaries. There is a time for all things, and the end of a thing is better then the beginning. (talk) 17:41, April 14, 2013 (UTC)
Well, I know that Reid's not an option. MGG made a deal to stay with the show until at least Season Nine. UnSub-Zero (talk) 18:23, April 14, 2013 (UTC)
Thank heavens for that! Reid has already lost his girlfriend this season, don't want to watch him die as well.... ;(, and also ruling out Blake, as she just joined, so it is unlikely that she leaves. So, that leaves Hotch, Rossi, Morgan, Garcia, or JJ. I have already give my opinion on it being Strauss, which is why I have not included her, even though they would be performing fan service by bumping her off! So, which one is the most likely, In our opinions? I stated Hotch, but it could be anyone. There is a time for all things, and the end of a thing is better then the beginning. (talk) 18:34, April 14, 2013 (UTC)
Well, actually, Ashley Seaver was a series regular for only almost half of Season Six, so actually, I think that Blake's still over hot water here. UnSub-Zero (talk) 19:02, April 14, 2013 (UTC)
I did say unlikely, and I thought about her when writing about Blake, but I still think that it is unlikely, purely because they aren't in the year of mayhem like they were in Season 6, and also I presume the actress has signed a contract. They are not going to just introduce a character and kill her a season later. Yes, most people hate her (I actually like her, but I've read fanfic where she has been killed/turned into an unsub) but I think she is here to stay for a while unless, of course, she is an assisstant of the Replicator (Unlikely, but still could be possible). I will stick with my thoughts that it is either Hotch, Rossi, Morgan, Garcia or JJ. There is a time for all things, and the end of a thing is better then the beginning. (talk) 15:09, April 15, 2013 (UTC)
Well said. But I still have my beliefs. Only the season finale will answer our questions! UnSub-Zero (talk) 22:11, April 15, 2013 (UTC)

Season 9- What we know so far.Edit

Well, it looks like there will be a ninth season, as Erica Messer has signed on, and Gibson, Mantegna and Moore are in negotiations, and Tripplehorn and Gubler have another season to go, so what do we know?

Firstly, it looks like Season 9 (if it does occur) will be without JJ AND Garcia, as both are threatening to quit the show over the pay.

http://www.independent.ie/entertainment/tv-radio/two-cast-members-set-to-depart-criminal-minds-over-pay-deal-29248451.html

Secondly, I guess the first couple of episodes will be centred around the Replicator, and if Vangness and Cook BOTH leave (which may happen) then I guess they'll die then.

Yep, overall, bittersweet. :( There is a time for all things, and the end of a thing is better then the beginning. (talk) 16:32, May 7, 2013 (UTC)

Anyways, on the season 9 front, Erica Messer has signed on, which means that we just have the actors.... :D There is a time for all things, and the end of a thing is better then the beginning. (talk) 20:54, May 2, 2013 (UTC)
Well, I hope JJ and Garcia don't leave the show. If they do, the show's as good as dead, unless they can give Reid a little steamy scene just like they did with Morgan in Snake Eyes. XD
Anywho, if JJ and Garcia DO leave, then I hope they don't die. Maybe JJ wants more family time, Garcia...not sure. Obviously, the Replicator will still be an issue for the team, and this'll lead to certain outcomes. Well, we're probably gonna have to wait and see what develops! UnSub-Zero (talk) 22:11, May 7, 2013 (UTC)
Criminal minds HAS been renewed for season 9 and JJ and Garcia are staying on- their pay check has increased so they are staying! :D There is a time for all things, and the end of a thing is better then the beginning. (talk) 19:30, May 13, 2013 (UTC)
