Amy Madigan is an American actress best known for her portrayals in Lifetime films.

Background

Madigan was born in Chicago, Illinois, daughter of Dolores, a union worker, and John Madigan, a Chicago-area political analyst, newspaper journalist, broadcast and media personality and lawyer. Madigan studied philosophy at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, piano at the The Music Conservatory of Chicago College of Performing Arts, and also attended the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute. She moved to Los Angeles in 1970.

Personal Life

Amy served on the board of NARAL, an abortion rights organization, but changed her stance to pro-life after the birth of her and Ed Harris' daughter, Lily.

Career

Amy is especially adept at playing mentally disturbed characters, as well as strong legal roles. She has appeared in many films on the Lifetime network, along side fellow feminist actresses as Bebe Neuwirth, and Markie Post.

Amy portrayed "Crazy Jane" in the Season Two episodes No Way Out and No Way Out II: The Evilution of Frank.
